The Legislative Assembly of Tonga will reconvene next Thursday, 4 April at 10:00 am, after a month long adjournment since 5 March. The office of the Fale Alea reported that the agenda for next week’s sitting will include Government's annual reports, Parliamentary constituency reports, and the Auditor’s compliance report.
The Cabinet held a meeting yesterday, 27 March, in Nuku’alofa ahead of the Easter long weekend. The Privy council was meeting with King Tupou VI in Vava'u, this morning, Thursday 28 March. Both meetings were likely to address the long-standing issue the King's withdrawl of confidence in two Cabinet Ministers, the Minister for His Majesty's Armed Forces, Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Fekitamoeloa 'Utoikamanu.
There has been no public announcement regarding the possible resignations of the ministers, or the appointments of new ministers, or any official statement by the Palace Office or the Prime Minister's office since the King and PM's meeting at Niua earlier this month, on 7 March.
