Tonga Fire & Emergency Services were fighting a large fire, early this afternoon, that was engulfing a warehouse storing Chinese imported products, at Fangaloto, Tongatapu.
The fire started around lunchtime, at the warehouse located at a Chinese residency there.
Black smoke covered the area and could be seen from the CBD in Nuku'alofa.
For over an hour fire trucks were rushing up and down Vuna Road to refill their tanks with water to fight the blaze at Fangaloto.
By 1:30pm the fire had completely engulfed the warehouse, destroying most of the products inside.
There was a visible struggle from the firefighters, resulting in them calling for back up.
Matangi Tonga counted over five fire-trucks at the scene, four of which arrived later, working together to put out the fire.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Tonga Fire & Emergency Services told Matangi Tonga they would conduct a throrough investigation of the scene, before drawing any conclusions.
