A total of 18 players have been chosen by Head Coach, Mark Uhatahi to represent the Kingdom in the upcoming Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Men’s Championship League, set to begin on Saturday 17 February.

Veitongo FC’s Hemaloto Polovili said he and the other players were judged by their training attendance and performance.

“Coach has been running trainings and trials since last year, testing our attendance and performance.”

He told Matangi Tonga that fitness was another important quality that the coach was looking for.

The competition will be hosted in Tongatapu at Teufaiva Stadium, from 17-24 February.

Tonga Football is inviting the public to come to Teufaiva and support the Veitongo FC.

“The name might be Veitongo Football Club and we may not be a national team but we are playing for Tonga.”
