A new station at Ha'asini, for the Police and the Fire & Emergency Services, was officially opened by the Prime Minister and Minister for Police Fire Services and Emergency Services, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku, on 28 December.

Both services will be accessible and available to the communities in the area, Tonga Police stated.

The Prime Minister stated that his administration was committed towards law enforcement and ensuring the safety and security of the community.

“This station is not just about the structure, or the building, it is about laying down the foundation for trust, cooperation, collaboration, and services. It is the key part of our community and law and order network.”

The new police and fire station is part of a Government project for communities at the Hahake District, which can also cover services for the Fua’amotu Airport.

The launch of the new station has coincided with the Ha’asini and Hamula Week, with celebrations that commenced on Wednesday, 27 December.
