The Tonga Rugby Under-18 schoolgirls team, “the Heilalas“, won two out of their three matches in the Global Youth 7s tournament last week at the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

The Global Youth Sevens is an international U18 boys and girls rugby sevens tournament. The tournament consists of 24 boys' and girls' teams from across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and elsewhere.

On the U18 girl’s first day, Saturday, the Heilalas won their two games against Cook Islands Australia (35-5) and the Sunnybank Dragons (31-7).

However, the team’s winning streak ended after they were defeated by Australian School Girls (0-54).

The team’s Australian Tour was made possible with funding from the Australian Government through the PacificAus Sports.
