The 15-member Tonga Table Tennis Federation (TTTF) National Team for the 2023 Pacific Games consists of five officials and 11 athletes, including three para-athletes.
The CEO and General Manager for TTTF, Salote Cocker Fungavai told Matangi Tonga that she is confident that this year's team will be great at the Pacific Games.
"I've managed teams and I've played in teams, we've never experienced such intense training like we did this year," she said.
“The National Team has been under consistent and intensive training for several months now and are determined to come back with positive results for Tonga.”
TTTF held a National Championship on the first week of July and chose the squad. However, only 11 athletes met the criteria to participate in this year's Pacific Games. They were assessed on their attendance, punctuality and good discipline.
The team will depart Tonga on a chartered flight to the Solomon Islands on Monday, 13 November 2023.
