Four men were arrested and charged with possession of illicit drugs and drug utensils, after a Police raid at Tu’atākilangi on Monday, 9 October 2023. The men were remanded.

Tonga Police allegedd that the four men were identified to have been distributing illicit drugs in the community.

“Those arrested included a 38-year-old from Ma’ufanga, a 36-year-old from ‘Utulau, a 42-year-old from Puke, and a 21-year-old from Hala’ovave. Found in their possession and seized by police were 12.09 grams of methamphetamine, cannabis seeds and leaves, drug utensils and TOP$7,479 cash, ” Tonga Police stated today. “All suspects remain remanded and are charged for possession of illicit drugs and drug utensils.”

Tonga Police Deputy Commissioner Operations Command, Tevita Vailea acknowledged the collaborative efforts of Police teams and the public to bring forward those involved in illicit drugs supply. “Anyone with information about illicit drugs can contact Police on phone 740-1660 or 922. Please help Police keep our families and communities safe from the unwanted harm caused by illicit drugs,” he said.
