Car crashed while rushing woman to hospital [1]

A a 51 year old woman from Haveluloto who collapsed at the Talamahu Market and was involved in a road accident while she was being rushed to hospital, died from her medical condition, Tonga Police reported today.
They said the road accident was not responsible for her death.
Last week on Wednesday, 26 July 2023, at around 08:20 am, Police responded to a road accident that occurred on Taufa'ahau Road at the intersection of Holomui e Pato, in front of the Fifita House Building, Kolofo’ou.
Two cars collided, where one was rushing a collapsed woman to Vaiola Hospital, who was later pronounced dead.
Police said that a 21 year old driver from Lavengatonga was driving her to the hospital.
“When they reached the intersection, a car driven by a 20 year old female was heading West from Hala e Pato Road, where she failed to stop but crashed into the car that was rushing to the hospital.
“The impact damaged both vehicles.”
According to police, the people at the scene transferred the collapsed woman to another vehicle that took her to the hospital, where unfortunately, at around 09:30 am, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“The medical doctor at Vaiola Hospital confirmed that the deceased passed away due to an intracranial haemorrhage, secondary to very high blood pressure. He also confirmed that there was no external sign to indicate any major injuries from the road accident that she encountered while on their way,” the Police stated.
