Lemoto Manu (35), a prisoner, died of suicide at Hu'atolitoli Prison on 19 April on Tongatapu.

Tonga Prison in a press release on 1 May, stated that his body was discovered at the Hu’atolitoli Mental Facility, where he was being held at the time of his death. No other details were released.

Lemoto was sentenced to five-years and six-months of imprisonment on October 2020 for reckless drunk driving causing death.

This was after he caused the death of Tausinga Taumoefolau (46) from Kolofo‘ou, while driving under the influence of alcohol on December 2019.
