Tonga's new petroleum prices for April to May decreases effective from Tuesday, 18 April.

The retail price for petrol decreases by 4 seniti/litre to $3.48 seniti/litre (equivalent to 1.14% decrease). Kerosene decreases by 17 seniti/litre to $2.62 (equivalent to 6.09% decrease) and diesel decreases by 11 seniti/litre to $3.52 seniti/litre (equivalent to 3.03% decrease).

At the same time, the wholesale petrol, kerosene and diesel prices also decreased by 3.76 seniti/litre, 16.71 seniti/litre and 11.52 seniti/litre respectively. All price changes include consumption tax.

Tonga’s Competent Authority stated that the reductions in the price of all petroleum products was due to for the monthly average, the Dated Brent at USD 79.21/bbl (5.2% lower than February 2023).

In addition, regional diesel prices fell with crude and jet prices fell more than crude, and the maritime freight rates had reduced (down by 25%) more than offsetting the increase last month, among other factors.
