Lord Ma‘afu installed [1]

Hon. Tevita ‘Unga Tangitau was appointed by HM King Tupou VI to the hereditary noble title, Ma'afu Tukui'aulahi, during a ceremony on 4 April at Vaini.
He suceeds his father, the late Lord Ma’afu (born Siosaia Lausi’i) and former Deputy Prime Minister, who passed away in December 2021. His mother was the late Princess Lavinia-Mata-‘o Taone, a first cousin of King Tupou VI.
Lord Ma'afu is head of the Ha'a Havea (clan) with Tongatapu estates including Vaini and Tokomololo.
His appointment letter was read by HM's Private Secretary Sione Fifita during the ceremony held at the the Vaka Ua Hall of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Attending was Crown Prince Tupouto'a 'Uluakalala, Crown Princess Sinaitakala, Prince Taufa’ahau, Princess 'Ofeina ‘e he Langi Fakafanua, Prince Ata, Hon. Salote Lupepau'u Tuita Taione, HSH Prince Tu'ipelehake, HSH Prince and Princess Kalaniuvalu, Lord Fakafanua, as well as Hon. Lavinia Fangaake Veikune and Lord Veikune.
The Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, Ministers, church leaders, extended families, friends and people from his estates were also present.
Lord Ma’afu is married to Lady Sela Ma’afu and they have six children.
