The Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr. Cao Xiaolin presented the 20 boat engines on behalf of the Dongguan City and his country to the Hon. Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku.

HE Mr. Xiaolin said he was very happy to hand over the enginesto the Prime Minister

“These boat engines are part of a asisstance from Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China to Tonga for its national recovery in the aftermath of the Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai volcanic eruption and tsunami in January 2022."

“This year marks the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tonga and China. Over the past quater of a century, under the guidance if the leaders of both counntries, and with the joint efforts of the Chinese people and the Tongan people, China-Tonga relations have maintained a good momentum of sound and stable development. The mutually beneficial cooperation has yielded fruitful reslts, and has brought tangible benefits to our people and made positive contributions to a regional peace and stability,” the ambassador said.

Hon. Hu’akavameiliku extended sincere gratitude to the People's Government of Dongguan City and the People’s Republic of China.

“This assistance will greatly facilitate Tonga’s development in various aspects, improve people’s livelihood and enable achieving Government priority goals.”
