The first session of Tonga's Court of Appeal 2023 is being held this week with judgments expected to be delivered next week, before the Easter long weekend.

The newest Appeal Court judge is Hon. Justice Philip Morrison who took his oath in Cabinet on 28 March. This was witnessed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice, Hon. Samiu Vaipulu, Lord Chief Justice Whitten KC, and Cabinet members.

Justice Morrison who joins other Appeal judges in this session is also a Judge of the Queensland Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, 12 appeals are being listed to be heard during this session of the Appeal Court from 27-31 March.
