A man has been arrested and charged in relation to a hit-and-run fatality at Nualei in November 2022.

Tonga Police stated today that their investigations into the fatality on Taufa’ahau Road at Nualei had resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old male from Ha’asini on Friday, 30 December 2022.

The accused has been charged for reckless driving causing death.

Police investigations were initiated when they received a report from the Vaiola Hospital at around 5:20 am on 20 November 2022, informing of a 29-year-old male who was in critical condition with severe injuries that later claimed his life.

Magistrate Mana Kaufusi placed the accused person in police remand until today, Monday, 2 January 2023.
