Tonga U20 needs win today to claim trophy [1]

The Tongan Under 20 team go into today’s deciding match having claimed the first round in a thrilling 20-19 victory over the Junior Manu Samoa.
In order to claim the 2022 Trophy Tonga will need another win on home soil, while Samoa will need a win by more than 2 points on Saturday 3 December at Teufaiva Sports Stadium in Nuku’alofa.
The annual Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy, introduced in 2015, is a key qualification competition with the winner earning a place at the World Rugby Under 20 Trophy in 2023.
Through the support of the Australian Government’s PacificAus Sports program the 2022 tournament increased to a two-match competition.
Referee David Vosalevu will be taking charge of the match assisted by Jiuwa Sokosayakimoce (Fiji) and Sione Lavaka (Tonga).
The final match of the 2022 PacificAus Sports Oceania Rugby Under 20 Trophy kicks off at 3:00pm Saturday 3 December, local time.
All matches will be broadcast on Pacifika TV.

Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy
The Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy was introduced in 2015 along with the Oceania Rugby U20 Championship as key regional high performance competition pathways for age grade teams. Teams from across the region are eligible to participate, excluding teams already qualified to the World Rugby U20 Championship. The current Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy Champion is Samoa who claimed the title during the 2020 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy held in Apia. The 2022 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy is supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
