Tongan-made products and services were displayed by local groups, businesses and some Government Ministries, during a three-day Tonga Trade Fair 2022, that opened on 24 November, in Nuku'alofa.

Held under a theme ‘Building Tonga Better Together’ the Ministry organized the event at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.

Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku said this is a great initiative by the Ministry, which began last year with the call to invest in Tonga’s economic recovery.

"I understand that this year’s theme builds on what was accomplished last year with renewed emphasis on building Tonga better together. Such calls for coordination."

The Minister of Trade and Economic Development, Hon. Dr Viliami Latu said this is becoming an annual event that brings together relevant government ministries, private sectors and businesses in an alliance that aims to promote Tonga made products and services.

“The unprecedented events on the global stage and in Tonga such as the covid-19 and natural disasters have brought challenges to our country, communities and families. It is not easy for one party to take on the large amount of development work. We need to undertake to recover economically and socially,” said the Minister.

"We can do more when we are working together with stronger public and private partnership, and today’s event showcases that partnership."

Meanwhile, an abundance of local produce, products and services are on display to the public, until 26 November.
