Construction of new houses in Ha'afeva island underway [1]

The small island of Ha’afeva in Ha’apai received a shipment of building materials on 21 November, for the construction of four houses as part of a Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha’apai tsunami house construction project.
The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that material was shipped yesterday, and the vessel made stops in Kotu and Nomuka islands to unload building materials for their house constructions.
Three out of four houses for Ha’afeva are being built by Kiwi Tonga and the other by a Ha’afeva local. Travelling to Ha’afeva is project manager Mr. Paula Kava and Kiwi Tonga contractor, Viliami Sisifa.
Nomuka
In addition, a shipment of seven heavy-duty bulldozers, tractors, road rollers, excavators and trucks, was delivered to Nomuka on 18 November, by the Ministry of Infrastructure to assist with the clearing of land for the new houses.
In total, 28 houses will be built in Nomuka with new roads to improve access.
Eleven driverss from the Ministry of Infrastructure are also in Nomuka to operate the machines.
