King Tupou VI visits Diabetics Centre in Abu Dhabi [1]

King Tupou VI visited the Imperial College London Diabetics Centre in Abu Dhabi to ascertain the potential of a partnership in addressing Non-Communicable Diseases in particular diabetes and related illnesses.
Welcomed by the Dr. Nicolas Richards, the centre's Executive Director and senior staff team, the King toured the state of the art facilities.
The Palace Office on 16 November, stated that His Majesty shared his hope that his people could one day access such services in the Kingdom of Tonga.
The centre was the first healthcare facility established by Mubadala Investment Company in partnership with Imperial College London in 2006.
It has treated more than 100,000 patients. It has an outpatient facility that specializes in diabetes treatment, research, training and public health awareness.
