A 46-year-old woman died from a fire at her house in Neiafu, early this morning, 8 November.

Tonga Police in Nuku’alofa stated this afternoon, that Police and Fire Services on the outer island responded to the house fire reported at around 5:00am.

"She and her husband were tenants of the house and were both at home when the tragedy occurred. The husband managed to save himself, but the wife, unfortunately, could not make it out on time."

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined but police investigations continues
