Parliament resumes, two new MPs [1]

Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti, the new Minister of Finance and National Planning and Mo'ale Finau new Ha’apai 12 MP.

The Legislative Assembly of Tonga resumed sitting on 24 October, when two new MPs took their oaths.

They were People's Representative Mo'ale Finau, who won Ha’apai 12’s recent by-election, and the newly appointed Minister of Finance and National Planning, Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti.

At the same time, current Tongatapu's No.1 Nobles Representative, Lord Vaea took his oath as the new Minister of Internal Affairs. His appointment was effective on 1 September.

The House then continued its agenda which included Amendment Bills, Standing Committee Reports and Petitions. Deliberations continued today.

The sitting which was initially scheduled to resume meeting on 17 October was deferred to this week, at Government's request as it hosted the South Pacific Defence Ministers’ Meeting was held in Nuku'alofa last week.
