The State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be broadcasted live on national television in Tonga, starting at 10:00pm on Monday night, 19 September until 7:00am, Tuesday morning.

Radio Tonga 1 will also simulcast, but will start at 10:30pm.

The British High Commission in Nuku’alofa stated today that the broadcast will be aired via Tonga Broadcasting Commission.

This is with the support of the British High Commission, TV New Zealand and the Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited of the Government of New Zealand.

“The television and radio broadcast will allow so the many friends of the UK in Tonga to join the millions of people around the world who will be watching this momentous and solemn occasion,” they stated.

Tonga Television broadcast (local time) from 10:00pm on Monday night until 7:00am on Tuesday morning, 20 September.

Radio Tonga 1 will also simulcast, but will start at 10:30pm Monday night until Tuesday morning.

At the same time, the British community with Tongan and Commonwealth friends joined the British High Commission team in Nuku'alofa, at 8:00am for the UK’s National Moment of Reflection for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

King Tupou VI is in London for the State Funeral, after departing last week to represent Tonga.
