Tonga's Appeal Court gets more judges [1]

Six new judges have been appointed to Tonga's Court of Appeal.
Lord Chief Justice Michael Whitten QC, as President of the Court of Appeal, announced the new appointments yesterday, September 7.
He said in July and August this year, upon the advice of the Judicial Appointments and Discipline Panel, His Majesty in Council appointed these persons as judges of the Court of Appeal:
- Hon. Paul de Jersey Q.C., former Chief Justice and Governor of Queensland
- Justice Stephen Estcourt Q.C. of the Tasmanian Supreme Court
- Justice Paul Heath Q.C., former judge of the New Zealand High Court
- Justice Rhys Harrison Q.C., former judge of the New Zealand Court of Appeal
- Justice Philip Morrison Q.C. of the Queensland Court of Appeal
- Justice Jean Dalton Q.C. of the Queensland Court of Appeal
"The increase in the number of judges serving on the Court will aid in ensuring availability so that the Court may be duly constituted by the requisite number of judges for each session of the Court each year and any special sessions that may be required."
