A new classroom building for Government Middle School Mu’a (‘Api ko Fakala’aa) was commissioned by the Prime Minister and Minister of Education Hon. Hu’akavameiliku on 19 August.
The two classroom buildings were constructed at a cost of around $682,890 pa’anga raised by the school's ex-students.
The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that the first classroom building was opened in December last year, so that students could use it immediately.
While, this second building held its groundbreaking ceremony last year, and was commissioned last Friday.
The Ministry of Infrastructure assisted in the construction and inspection of the construction work to ensure that it met building codes.
Repair works were committed for the road leading to the school.
The GMS celbrated with feasting and dancing, with performances not only from students but also ex-students and PTA.
After the need for new classrooms was identified during a meeting of the PTA and school, the ex-students from various parts of Tonga and abroad raised the funds.
Mu'a is situated on eastern Tongatapu.
