Three more golds for Tonga at Pacific Mini Games 2022 [1]

Tonga has won three more gold medals at the Pacific Mini Games 2022 in Saipan, Northern Marianas.
Talented lifter, Uaealesi Funaki won three gold medals in the men’s 96kg weight lifting event (Clean, Snatch and Jerk, Overall) on June 22.
This brings up Tonga’s medal tally to five, which includes four gold medals and one bronze.
‘Atamaama Tu’utafaiva had earlier won a gold medal in women’s shot put. While the tennis team won bronze in their event.
TASANOC said, today that this is the best result Team Tonga has achieved from a Pacific Mini Games since it started in 1985.
The Pacific Mini Games is held from June 17-25.
Meanwhile, International Olympic Day was marked on 23 June.
"What happy news for Tonga to mark this important day but with our additional medals. Due to busy schedules, that includes preparing for the Commonwealth Games the event was marked today with awareness via media. However, sports programs will be held on 2 July at our head office in Haveluloto,” said TASANOC.
