Giving blood can save a life [1]

Giving blood could save someone's life, says Tonga Red Cross, encouraging Tongans to come forward to support the replenishment of the blood bank at Vaiola Hospital this week.

A blood drive started on Friday, 10 June by Tonga Red Cross to mark World Blood Donor Day and other events were held on TV and Radio to raise awareness this week.

Tonga Red Cross Society Secretary-General, Sione Taumoefolau said that World Blood Donor Day is an important annual event marked on 14 June.

"The society has been supporting this initiative, which has been for many years,” he said. It ensures there is a sufficient blood supply for the Blood Bank at Vaiola Hospital.

The blood drive was held at the Tonga Red Cross headquarters where donors gave their blood.
