Beulah Adventist College boosts computerised education [1]

Beulah Adventist College has boosted its computerised education with the launching of new network infrastructure and technology teaching and learning facilities, on May 26 at the Vaini campus.

The College, which is owned and operated by the Tonga Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, stated that the projects, valued at $200,000 pa’anga, enhanced their STEM learning. The projects were entirely funded from generous donations, voluntary efforts and commitments of various key stakeholders.

The Prime Minister Hon Hu’akavameiliku, who is also Minister of Education, commended the school and its management for the milestone achievement, when he officially launched the network and facilities.

“This academic year has a lot of challenges and the only thing we can do is change our presentation of education and invest in our teachers so that they have the technical knowledge to be able to assist our children,” he said.

"We invest in our children’s future as the new way of education for us and I applaud Beulah College for taking the lead in this important field."

The PM also congratulated the President and Members of the Old Scholars Association, Parents and Teachers and others who contributed.

The new network infrastructure of the Local Area Network (LAN) consists of a Unifi Router that manages wired and wireless network devices. Valued at around $100,000 pa'anga, it included 45 Thin Clients and Monitors and the Core Network Infrastructure, Design and Build.

New TVET and Learning Resources valued at $60,000 pa'anga consists of the Home Economics Classroom Industrial Arts Classroom, Computer Labs, Printer-Copier and Teaching-Resources.

A new Industrial Arts building was funded by the World Bank, with additional materials also funded by former students of the school.

This is in addition to classroom renovations of around $40,000 pa'anga.

Major donors included the Seventh-day Adventist Church Support, Tonga, Beulah Ex-Students Association-USA, Allira Housing Committee (Australia).


Other donors were the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), Tonga Mission Education Department, Beulah Ex-Students Association-New Zealand, Gudwan Education Consultancy, professional services and other support.

Dr Elisapesi Manson is the Education Consultant, Tonga Mission SDA and Project Manager. Others attending included Fanueli Mataele, President Tonga Mission SDA and Chair of School Board, Fatongia Hopoate, Education Director Tonga Mission SDA, Lui 'Aho President Beulah College Ex-Students, and Principal Lemani Matui.
