MBF Bank donates water and food relief supplies [1]

The two container loads for Tonga Red Cross included much needed drinking water and food packages, including flour amounting to $55,000 pa'anga, he said.
"We feel the pain and plight of those who are now homeless as the result of the tsunami of January 15, 2022 and whose lives are made even harder with the arrival of COVID-19 in communities."
In addition, MBF has always been the people’s Bank since 1993 and as a corporate citizen of Tonga it is part of our social responsibility and duty to help the people of Tonga and in times of need, he said.
He extended appreciation to MBF Bank in Malaysia and associate company Carpenters Group in Fiji whose invaluable work in organizing the containers made this donation possible.
Sione thanked MBF for their support through TRCS response to the vulnerable people who are affected by the double disasters of last month.
He said the drinking water and food items would be distributed to those affected by the tsunami and volcanic eruption in Mu’omu’a District and Tungua in Ha’apai with ‘Eueiki and ‘Atata in Tongatapu. The donation was announced a week after the natural disasters but the containers had just arrived in Tongatapu last week.
