Tonga reduces MIQ to 15 days for int'l repatriations [1]

Tonga has reduced its Managed Isolation Quarantine (MIQ) requirement for international arrivals from 21 to 15 days, for the 180 repatriates who arrived at Fua'amotu International Airport yesterday, on three flights coming from New Zealand, Fiji, and Australia.
Eighty-five of the passengers are from New Zealand; 55 from Fiji; and 40 from Australia, the Tonga Police Acting Deputy Commissioner, ‘Atunaisa Taumoepeau, today, Feb. 16.
The passengers are staying in quarantine at the Tanoa Hotel in Nuku’alofa.
Ministry of Health CEO, Dr Siale ‘Akau’ola, confirmed to Matangi Tonga today that the quarantine period for repatriated passengers has been reduced.
They will be quarantined for only 15 days.
Meanwhile, Tongatapu and Vava’u are currently under lockdown until Sunday Feb. 20, due to community transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 .
