Tonga will observe Constitution Day, November 4 with a public holiday on Monday, November 8, marking the 146th anniversary of the enactment of the Constitution by HM King Tupou I on November 4, 1875.

The landmark Constitution consists of 115 clauses in three parts, including the Declaration of Rights, Form of Government and the Land.

Tonga's Constitution established Tonga as a modern constitutional monarchy in 1875.

The Constitution continues its legal premise over Tonga to this day.
