Hofoa students learn Japanese origami [1]

Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding was taught to students at GPS Hofoa today and folded shapes of a helmet, heart and a balloon.
The event organized by the the Cultural Division of the Embassy of Japan was attended by the Japanese Ambassador, HE Mr. Munenaga Kensaku and the MEIDECC Minister Hon. Poasi Tei, (Tongatapu no. 6 People's Representative).
Ms. Tamada Iku, Officer in Charge of Cultural and Education who led the origami session, said she was happy to share Japanese culture among Tongan students.
"Origami is just like soroban, it encourages students to concentrate and focus. Origami is for all generation and she hopes students of Hofoa learned something new, and be creative with their hands."
This visit is part of the cultural events hosted by the Embassy to share and enhance knowledge of the Tongan people, into Japanese culture and lifestyle, she said.
The Minister thanked the Japanese Ambassador for sharing the origami knowledge with the young students.
