Ronald Fotofili places eighth in 100m preliminary heat [1]

Tongan sprinter, Ronald Fotofili finished in eighth place in the 100m preliminary heat 2, at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday, 31 July.
His time was 11:19 seconds, short of his personal best time of 10:89. He did not advance to the next round.
His race was won by Barakat Al Harthi from Oman with a time of 10.27 seconds, Guyana’s Emanuel Archibald placed second in 10.30 and Mohamed Alhammadi from the United Arab Emirates along with Fiji's Ratu Banuve Tabakaucoro tied in third place in 10.59.
The final Men’s 100m sprint was won by Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs with a time of 9.80 seconds. USA’s Fred Kerley finished in second place in 9.84, and Andrew de Grasse from Canada came third in 9.89.

Ronald told Matangi Tonga this afternoon he was happy competing in the 100m as it was the first time for him to go to the Olympics and compete with the world’s best athletes.
He will leave Japan along with coach, Siueni Filimone, on 9 August after the Olympic games.
Ronald plans to continue training in running and looks forward to more athletics competitions.
