Miss Galaxy Queen 2021 promotes anti-violence theme [1]

Tonga’s new Miss Galaxy Queen 2021-22, Lavenda Mosay (Miss Nauti Ruby’s Bar) was crowned on Friday night, July 16, in a colourful show at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall in Nuku'alofa.
To a cheering full house, Lavenda was crowned by the Patron of the Tonga Leitis' Association (TLA) Hon Lupepau’u Tuita-Taione, after a a final night of judging events of fashion categories, including Recycled Creations, a Talent Show and modelling Formal Evening Wear.
The winner took home $3,000 pa’anga cash prize, and other prizes, including gift vouchers.
The 1st runner up was Miss PC Trade, Valentina, who received $2,000 cash prize. While, 2nd runner up was awarded to Miss Chateau de Lamour, Isabella Kupu, who won a $1,000 cash prize, and other gift vouchers.
Hosted by TLA, the Miss Galaxy Queen Pageant is a popular annual event in the capital. Eleven contestants competed in the 28th annual pageant.
New TLA President Taufu'i Naufahu in a welcome address said the pageant brings together various people to have fun and witness the powerful drag queens and talented young queens.
"Our theme is, ‘I can, you can and we can end violence against women and LGBT in our country’. We are here because we care, love and enjoy each other's company."
The two-nights of pagentry was not only a show of fun and creativity for the audience, with fantastic creations on display, but throughout the week, it was platform for TLA promote their work for the LBGT community, including mental health awareness and HIV/ STIs and other initiatives to educate youths about NCDs, alcohol and drugs.
A Market Day displayed the various items and products created by the Queens.
The pageant also remembered the late TLA President Polikalepo Kefu who was died in an assault in May this year.
