At an investiture ceremony at the Royal Palace on 6 July HM King Tupou VI conferred royal orders to 20 recipients.

The Palace Office stated that the awards were in recognition of exceptional service to the Crown and Country.

Three orders awarded were the Royal Household Order of Tonga, the Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga, and the Royal Military Order of Saint George.

The recipients were:

5. Mrs Petunia Tupou, The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
6. Mrs Viola Tangiloto Ulakai, The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
7. Reverend 'Alifeleti Tikisoni 'Atiola, The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
8. Mr Alfred Cowley, The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
9. Mr Minoru Patrick Nishi Jr., The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
10. Reverend Tevita Palu, The Royal Order of the Crown of Tonga
