King to mark July 4 Birthday in Nuku'alofa [1]

Marching by massed military brass bands marked the King's Birthday in Nuku'alofa on 4 July 2019. But it will be quieter this year with COVID-19 restrictions.

HM King Tupou VI will attend a church service at the Centennial to mark his official birthday on Sunday, July 4 in Nuku'alofa.

The King, who was born on July 12, 1959, will be 62-years-old this year.

HM's Secretary Sione Fifita, said today that the King and Queen Nanasipau'u will attend the normal Sunday church service, on the morning of his birthday.

A birthday dinner will be hosted at the Royal Palace with members of the Foreign Diplomatic Corp on Monday evening, July 5 a public holiday in Tonga.

The King and Queen are expected to return to capital from ‘Eua on June 30, at the conclusion of the FWC Annual Church Conference.
