The Tau'uta Reds this afternoon beat the Air Pacific Fijian Barbarians 21-14 to secure an IRB Pacific Cup final at Teufaiva Stadium next week.

The Barbarians put the first points on the board with a penalty conversion by their No. 15. A few minutes later the Tau'uta's No. 15 Mesiu Lemoto responded with a penalty conversion of his own and the score was level at 3-3 for a few more minutes until the Tau'uta scored the first try of the match. Mesiu was successful with his conversion and the Tau'uta Reds led 10-3.

The Barbarians responded immediately with a try by their No. 13, the top try scorer of the tournament. The Barbarian's No. 15 missed the conversion so the Tau'uta remained in the lead 10-8.

A few minutes later the Barbarians No. 13 received a yellow card. Mesiu Lemoto was successful with his penalty conversion and the Tau'uta extended its lead to 13-8, and that was the score at the break.

The Tau'uta came out firing at the beginning of the second half, and the No. 14 Ualosi Kailahi scored at the corner. Mesiu failed with the conversion, but the Tau'uta extended its lead to 18-8. The Barbarians responded with a penalty conversion to narrow the score to 18-11.

The Barbarians went on to their attacking mode in search of a converted try to equalise the score. They nearly succeeded when the Tau'uta's No. 3 was yellow-carded and the Barbarians were successful with the penalty conversion to narrow the score to 18-14. During this dying phase of the game when the Barbarians were hot on attack one of the Tau'uta back line players was successful with a drop kick and extended their lead to 21-14 until full time.

It was a nice afternoon for rugby, and the ground was soft but not as muddy as it was last week.
