Youth dies from gunshot in Kolomotu'a [1]

A 12-year-old boy is in police custody following the death of an 18-year-old male from Lapaha in an alleged firearms incident on Saturday night, 17 April, at Kolomotu'a in Nuku'alofa.

Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea, of Tonga Police said the firearms incident occured at a residence in Kolomotu'a.

“A Police investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding this incident,” he said.

Matangi Tonga understands that the 18-year-old died from a gunshot wound to his head.

No further details were available this evening.
