Arrests in ongoing drug busts [1]

Nine people have been arrested with methamphetamine and cannabis at four different locations in Tongatapu, as Tonga Police continues operations to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs.
The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce made the differerent arrests between February to date.
On March 5 at Tokomololo, a 60-year-old man was arrested after the seizure of 1.31 grams of methampathamine.
On March 10 at Kolofo'ou, a 27-year-old man was arrested with 0.33 gram of methamphetamine and $200 pa’anga.
A day later, on March 11, three men and one woman who were between the ages of 16-38, were arrested at a home in Vaini.
This was after police seized 1.72 grams of methamphetamine, 0.71 gram of cannabis and over $2,000 pa'anga.
Earlier on February 3, three men were arrested with various drugs paraphernalia at a home in Hofoa.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, Tonga Police remained committed toward disrupting and detecting the supply of drugs and holding those responsible to account.
He encouraged anyone who may have information about drug related offending to contact their nearest Police Station or to telephone them.
