USP Acting Vice-Chancellor and President role extended [1]

The University of the South Pacific (USP) Council has extended the appointment of Dr Masasso Paunga as Acting Vice-Chancellor & President until further notice, following a special meeting held yesterday, 16 February.
According to USP, a sub-committee looking into Vice-Chancellor Professor Pal Ahluwalia’s sudden deportation by the Fijian Government has not yet presented its recommendations on the matter to Council.
Meanwhile, USP Council has referred allegations of a breach of its Code of Conduct to an Executive Committee with recommendations to be presented by 30 March.
Fiji’s FBC News reported, USP Council members, Pro-Chancellor Winston Thompson and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee Mahmood Khan, are alleged to have breached the USP Council Code of Conduct with regards to Professor Ahluwalia.
