152 Tongan seasonal workers leave for Tasmania [1]

152 seasonal workers left Tonga on a chartered flight for Tasmania in Australia this afternoon, January 22.

The CEO for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dr Fotu Fisi’iahi said the workers are heading to Tasmania via Brisbane, and combined of both men and women.

There were no incoming passengers, he said.

The flight departed Fua'amotu International Airport at around 3:30pm.

Meanwhile, Tonga has continuously been sending seasonal workers to Australia, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 21, last year 162 seasonal workers left for Brisbane.
