All 286 repatriates from Auckland and Fiji who are currently in-home quarantine for seven days will be released in time to join in celebrations welcoming in the New Year, confirmed Tonga's Chief Medical Officer (Public Health) Dr Reynold 'Ofanoa this afternoon.
Some passengers, who normally reside on the outer islands, are spending home quarantine at Taliai Military Camp, before they are allowed to return to their homes.
All repatriates tested negative for CoViD-19 in their final test last week and were released to home quarantine before Christmas Day.
The 22-navy crew who were in quarantine on the VOEA Ngahau Siliva also tested negative for COVID-19 and have completed 14 days of supervised quarantine as well as seven days of home quarantine requirements, said Dr 'Ofanoa.
