Last minute shoppers packed the seafront open-market on Vuna Road in Ma’ufanga on Christmas Eve.
Despite the heat, sellers were out in full force selling everything from clothes, toys, food and household essentials.
Buyers packed the area from early morning, with traffic jams throughout the Central Business District. The main Vuna Road is blocked by the Tanoa Hotel, for the current quarantine period of repatriates.
Christmas Day is a Sunday in Tonga, with no business open as the day will be devoted to church services, starting tonight, at various congregations.
Meanwhile, the national curfew for COVID-19 will be lifted only for Christmas Day and January 1.
