With a difficult year due to the COVID-19 pandemic globally, much needed Christmas cheer from the Tupou College brass band was heard in the Central Business District today, December 22.
Although it is officially the school holidays, the students dressed in their uniforms were out in full force with their band master, playing Christmas carols at the Fund Management square.
Despite today's heat, last minute shoppers were seen out and about and traffic busy in the CBD.
Tonga Police said the police string band were planning to spread some Christmas cheer to the repatriated passengers quarantined, at Tanoa Hotel this evening where they will play and sing carols outside the hotel. The police band are also expected to play at other public venues before Christmas day.
Although the Christmas cheer is much quieter than usual, with a night curfew in place, the bands are still getting around. Last week the young members of the 'Apifo'ou College brass band were playing carols in Ma'ufanga.
