Couples flock to get married before Christmas [1]

Brides and grooms filled the Registry Office in Nuku'alofa, today December 17 to tie the knot before government closes for the Christmas holidays.

The Registry Office reported that around 30 couples got married today, which was also their busiest day for marriage licenses for the month.

December is the most popular month for weddings in Tonga, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The last working day for government offices this year is Friday, December 18. 

Meanwhile, families and friends of the many newly wedded couples gathered to mark the special occassion.
