Tonga High School 2020 Dux, ‘Alunga Tupou [1]

The 2020 Dux of Tonga High School is the Head Girl, ‘Alunga Lily Mary Vermanda Tupou (18), who received her awards during the government secondary school’s prize giving ceremony today, December 3.
Her prizes, which included cash prizes of up to $3,000 pa’anga and trophies, were presented by the Minister for Education Hon Siaosi Sovaleni, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
‘Alunga was also awarded Best All Round Student. She is the daughter of 'Alipate and Maliana Tupou from Ha'avakatolo, and lives in Ngele'ia.
The Proxime Accessit was awarded to Ane Makalita Pulotu.
Prestigious prizes of $2,000 pa’anga each from HM King Tupou VI were awarded to the Best Student in Foreign Languages, Malia Hafoka. While, Ane the Proxime Accessit was awarded Best Student in Science. The King’s special prizes were presented by Hon Lupepau’u Tuita Taione.
At the same time, the Chinese Ambassador HE Mr Cao Xiaolin awarded cash prizes of $1,000 pa’anga each to the Best Chinese Language student in the form 3-7 levels.
A range of other academic prizes were also presented to top students in each form, and other special prizes.
An earlier graduation ceremony was held on December 1 for Form 7 students, who were awarded Certificates of Completion, at the school compound.
This marked the end of the school year for 2020.
