Repatriated passengers from Auckland test negative for CoViD-19 [1]

Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Wednesday, November 25, 2020 - 17:38.  Updated on Thursday, November 26, 2020 - 09:18.

The first CoViD-19 tests for repatriated passengers from Auckland all tested negative, said Ministry of Health CEO Dr Siale ‘Akau’ola.

A negative test means that the test did not find coronavirus.

The passengers arrived on 19 November and will remain in quarantine at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa and Makeke Camp in Vaini for 14 days.

Passengers will be tested for CoViD-19 again at the end of the quarantine period before they are released to spend a further seven days in home quarantine.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (Public Health) Dr Reynold 'Ofanoa confirmed the repatriated passengers who arrived from Brisbane yesterday afternoon were tested for CoViD-19 this morning, with results to be confirmed in 48 hours.

These passengers are also in quarantine at the Tanoa Hotel and Makeke Camp for 14 days.

Another repatriation flight from New Zealand is planned to arrive in Tonga on 8 December.
