All 141 passengers from Christchurch tested negative for CoViD-19 on the first round of testing in Tonga confirmed Ministry of Health CEO, Dr Siale ‘Akau’ola last night.

“They will be tested again on day 14, before one week's home quarantine for added safety.”

The repatriated passengers are staying at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel and Taliai Military Camp.

Meanwhile, Makeke Camp, where some of the passengers were supposed to stay, is still undergoing minor improvements.

Dr ‘Akau’ola said the issue with Makeke was the need to make improvements to vehicle pathways within the main camp and also footpaths to the individual houses used for quarantining passengers.

“There were also some final touches to a few of the houses to better protect occupants from unexpected windy conditions.”

As for the next repatriation flight, Dr ‘Akau’ola said it was still being discussed and had yet to be finalised.
