Ms Lucy Joyce OBE is the third British High Commissioner to be appointed to the Kingdom of Tonga since last year, after Britain decided to reopen its diplomatic mission in Nuku’alofa since departing in 2006.
In May 2019, Mr Robin Ord-Smith MVO was appointed to the role but did not relocate to Tonga.
Earlier this year, Miss Thorhilda Abbott-Watt OBE was appointed to the role but did not relocate to Tonga.
Lucy is expected to take up her new appointment later this year.
Previously, Lucy was Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, and prior to that she was Acting High Commissioner to Zambia.
