An appeal by the Tonga National Rugby League (TNRL) over its expulsion from the International Rugby League (IRL) has been adjourned by the Court of Arbitration of Sport.

The hearing was scheduled to take place on 22 September.

Asia Pacific Rugby League, Gareth Holmes told Matangi Tonga today that the hearing has been rescheduled with the “new date to be advised”.

Tonga currently does not have a recognized national rugby league governing body that is a member of the International Rugby League, although two organizations (excluding TNRL) have applied for full membership.

The TNRL was expelled from the IRL membership in February after a dispute with Mate Ma'a Tonga players, when Coach Kristian Woolf was let go.
