PM launches Tax Week activities [1]

Tax Week was launched by Prime Minister Hon Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa, under a theme ‘Let us be resilient in our voyage for a perpetual Tonga’
The Prime Minister spoke at the annual event held at the Taufa’ahau Domestic Wharf today, September 21.
He called for the Ministry staff to carry out their work responsibly, work together and form a partnership with tax payers and the people of Tonga to build Tonga.
The Minister of Revenue and Customs, Hon Tevita Lavemaau said this was the fourth year of the Tax Week program. It runs from September 21-27.
It aimed to inform and raise awareness on the Ministry's services, forge closer working ties with people and businesses, prompt tax payers' active participation to meet their taxation requirements to the Ministry and for the people to understand better their work, he said.
The event included performances by school students and employees from the Ministry of Revenue and Customs.
To celebrate the week, the Ministry is also running competitions (poem, quiz, short video and jingle) for the public and schools. The competitions has a range of topics to promote awareness on the importance of taxation, the Ministry's services, and Customs-Trade facilitation.
