A second trial for students to learn from home for one day on 8 September has been organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, to prepare students for school closures should CoViD-19 reach Tonga.
The Ministry stated yesterday that the trial is for all students in early childhood education, inclusive education, classes 1-6, forms 1-7 and tertiary level.
Teaching materials and lessons will be delivered to students at home through several platforms including internet, radio, TV, paper based distance education and blended (using more than one platform).
The Ministry is requesting that at least one parent and or guardian should be at home to overlook and administer the trial program and ensure students are following their school work. The trial program will start at 9:00am and finish at 3:30pm.
The first home school trial held on 30 June was a success, according to the Ministry.
Data from the first trial was collected and analysed to further develop learning content and teaching resources as part of the home learning package.
After the second trial, the Ministry will also collect data and feedback to further improve their methods of delivery and quality of learning resources.
